A banda se chamava Blink, mas uma banda irlandesa já havia sido registrada com esse nome. Eles resolveram, então, adicionar o 182 (por escolha própria e sem sentido comprovado pelos integrantes). Figure 8 e Duck Tape foram nomes cogitados antes de o nome Blink 182 ser adotado.
